10.21.2009 Night

by mike at 7:00 am

The last week or two, she’s mostly been following a schedule of going to bed at 7-8, sleeping until 4-5, having a feed, then going back to sleep until around 7. She’s been occasionally waking up and wailing, but if we wait she usually puts herself back to sleep. Last night she woke up around midnight and wailed for a while. She didn’t seem to be going back to sleep, so I made up a 3oz bottle and went in to her. She guzzled it, in a way I haven’t seen her do since she was about a month old — we’ve long had a problem with her being unwilling to suck, but apparently she knows how to suck fine, she just chooses not to. Last night, after a day of lousy meals, she was hungry and so she sucked. She finished that bottle and most of another 3oz bottle, but then got sleepy and pushed the bottle away. She went back to sleep pretty quickly.

So it looks like we need to go back to night feeding, especially since she hasn’t been eating that well during the day. We had also dumped the bottle in favor of a sippy cup, but maybe that was a mistake too.

10.17.2009 Recent Nights

by mike at 8:15 am

After a couple of rough nights of adjustment after getting back from the east coast, Nora’s been going to bed around 7-8 and mostly sleeping through until 4-5 the next morning, when she wakes for a feed. She then goes back to sleep until 7ish.

09.30.2009 No Reports Today

by mike at 12:18 pm

Mom & dad are still in Montreal, NLP still in Burlington. Grandma says she ate like a champ, slept through most of the night, and woke up happy.

09.29.2009 No Reports Today

by mike at 8:42 pm

No reports today, because NLP is in Burlington with her grandparents while mom & dad are in Montreal living it up. The bedtime report from grandma was that she ate pretty well today and went to sleep with almost no complaining at all.

09.28.2009 Night

by mike at 11:20 am

Bedtime was kind of a fiasco, with the whole family a bit confused by the time change. Nora went down at 7-8 EST but then woke up after a couple of hours and would not be put back to sleep (lots of crying) until we got her up and played with her for a while. She finally went to sleep around 10:30. But when she did finally go to sleep, she slept like a champ, straight through until 6:00, when I got her up and gave her about 3oz of formula, with her actually sucking on the bottle a little. She went back to sleep until about 8:30. Best of all: mom managed to sleep all the way through the night, a first since Nora was born.

09.25.2009 Nights this week

by mike at 11:28 am

I took the 1am-ish feeding most nights this past week. We had a couple nights where she took an ounce or so of formula before pushing it away and falling asleep. One night where she just wasn’t interested and wanted to go to sleep. And one where she actually took three ounces and sucked a little at the end (usually, it’s just chewing) and then went right to sleep.

She’s been enjoying the cinnamon, so I tried her on a little ground ginger. She was okay with it, not as into it as the cinnamon. But then she ate some herself on her finger and it was obviously too strong for her. Her faces were funny.

09.22.2009 Night

by mike at 9:13 am

Erica got up with NLP at 1-2 and fed her. I got up with her at about 5:30. She took about an ounce of formula from her dragonfly bottle, after playing with it for a while. But after a while she kept pushing it away and complaining a lot. So I let her go to sleep on me and put her back in her crib at about 6:30. She was awake again for breakfast at 7:15.
